- Mick Waumsley, the proprietor of SURE FIRE TECHNICAL
SERVICES, has been involved in the investigation of problems with
solid fuel appliances, heating systems and chimneys for over 20
years and was formally the Technical Manager for the Solid Fuel
Association, the Domestic Coal Industries trade body.

While in this post he developed a technical department which earned
recognition as the centre of expertise in this field, a point of
contact for all matters concerning solid fuel heating and appliances.
As
a HETAS registered consultant, Mick gained experience with the
Solid Fuel Advisory Service, British Coal and the Solid Fuel Association
(SFA) before forming SURE FIRE. During this time his continuous
professional development route has resulted in an HNC in Mechanical
Engineering, Membership of the IDHEE, Diplomas from the Chartered
Institute of Building as well as a Masters Degree in Business
Administration (MBA). Having reached the post of National Technical
Manager for both British Coal and the SFA, Mick has acted as consultant
to bodies such as HETAS, the Health & Safety Executive, Emergency
Services and the Coal Research Establishment.

He is also a contributor to discussion documents on British Standards
& Building Regulations and was a member of the DETR Expert
Panel on chimney lining. While at the SFA, Mick also authored
a number of technical guides as well as a contributing to the
HETAS training manuals. |

SURE
FIRE TECHNICAL SERVICES is HETAS registered as a consultant and
training organisation and has the contract to administer the National
Association of Chimney Engineers which, in the 10 months since this
contract began, has increased membership by almost 30%. |

- Technical investigation and design services are provided by
SURE FIRE for Coroners & the Emergency Services (through the
SFA) as well as privately for the Health & Safety Executive,
the general public and organisations requiring an independent
assessment/report on Solid Fuel related heating and chimney problems.

courses
- SURE FIRE provide training courses for industry professionals
and is currently the only private company authorised to provide
HETAS approved training. Training can be developed to suit either
the delegates or the requirements of organisations developing
